The Sandpiper Story

We Go in the Trenches Together

Both figuratively and literally, going in the trenches is what we do.

1,865

Projects Completed

Started with just 15 employees

Over 42% of our workforce has been with us for more than 10 years

In April of 1991, Mario DiNicolo started the company with less than fifteen employees and a few pieces of used equipment, with the intention of having Sandpiper become a family business. He was quickly joined by his son, Rino and what began as a humble father-and-son venture has grown into a dedicated team of more than 70 civil construction professionals, supported by a fleet of over 60 units of heavy equipment valued at more than $10 million.

More than three decades later, that original sense of family continues to define who we are. Many of our earliest team members are still with us today, and most meaningful of all, over 42% of our workforce has been part of this journey for more than 10 years.

Working side by side for so many years has shaped how we operate. We move in sync, anticipate each other's needs, and look out for one another on every job site. That connection is the foundation of our success - reflected in the completion of 1,865 projects and a safety record that stands among the best in the industry.

Hands-On! All-In! Every Time!

We've built our reputation by showing up ready to solve problems others can't. From complex site conditions to tight timelines, our team is known for staying focused, adaptable, and in control - no matter what the job demands.

We bring deep expertise to every phase of a project. But what truly sets us apart isn't just what we know - it's how we work.

Responsible Construction

Sustainability & Environmental Responsibility

At Sandpiper, we believe that responsible construction goes beyond the job site. We're committed to sustainability at every level - from reducing waste in the office to reusing and recycling materials in the field.

On the job site

To reduce the environmental impact of our operations, wherever possible and permitted by municipalities, we reclaim and reuse asphalt, concrete, and fill material from existing infrastructure.

Where reuse isn't feasible

We ensure that materials like asphalt chunks, curbs, and concrete are sorted and hauled to approved recycling facilities.

We utilize a dedicated network of yards

These sites help minimize on-site disruptions, reduce trucking distances, and streamline material handling - ultimately lowering fuel consumption and improving overall efficiency.

Deeply rooted in our community

We believe in giving back

For over 35 years, we've proudly supported local causes, sports teams, and charitable organizations. Over the decades, our team has contributed time, funds, and support to a wide range of community initiatives; from holiday food drives and fundraising efforts to event sponsorships and awareness campaigns. Giving back has always been a part of the Sandpiper story.

As we grow, so does our commitment to being a positive force in the communities where we live and work. Whether it's through sponsorships, volunteering, or just showing up when it counts - we believe that building strong communities goes hand-in-hand with building strong infrastructure. We're proud to stand beside the people and programs that make BC a better place for everyone.
